“To Worship You I Live, To Worship You I live, I live to worship You”. These lyrics are borrowed from a song composed and recorded by Israel Houghton and New Breed. They completely describe the reason of our existence and why our lives matter. God demands our worship, which is our full attention and our hearts. Yes, God has designed each of us differently, however, His ultimate purpose for our lives is to bring Him Glory.

A familiar story in the bible about the woman who met Jesus at the well helps us see how important true worship is in our relationship with God. Jesus knew that the woman was a Samaritan, but she also was a soul who needed to be saved and rescued. Therefore, He took the time to minister to her. Through this passage we learn that God has called us all to be true worshipers. John 4: 23-24 says, But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.  There is nothing worth more than our relationship with Christ. For without Christ, we would not exist.

How can I incorporate Worship in my everyday life? We bring Glory to God as we worship Him with our everyday walk, lifestyle (how we act, what we say, what we do and the decisions we make). Philippians 4:8 states, Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things Why is Worship so important? Through worship we build a healthy and genuine prayer life and develop a submitted and humble heart to the Father. Our Worship leads us into the presence of God and we become selfless and He magnifies Himself in us and to us. Revelation 4:11 states, we were made by God to bring him and give Him Glory. For God is the Potter/We are the Clay and He is the master creator. For it is He that has made us and not we ourselves.  When we humbly repent and walk in holiness, we offer ourselves to God fully. Worshiping the True God helps us develop a Christ like character and take on His likeness and His ways.

Worship is more than a song or a musical selection. Worship is more than lifting and clapping of the hands. All of these are a form of worship, but not the whole package. True worship is the position and the posture of the heart to God and a personal and true relationship with the Father. Living a life of total worship to God draws our full attention to God’s will for our lives and draws us away from our own personal agenda and plans. It is important to live a life of total worship to God to honor Him in every area of our lives. Through worship we draw closer to God and hear Him clearly. When we worship, we participate in the activity of heaven. We join in with the elders and heavenly angels in acknowledging and glorifying God as our Father, our Lord, our Savior, our Provider, and our Protector. Through worship we become to know God in a more intimate way and learn what He requires of us. Worship impacts the way we think and helps us view the world from God’s perspective. Worship enables us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice which should be a commitment we practice every day. Ultimately, worship transforms our ordinary actions into following the paths of Jesus. Matthew 4:10 states, Worship the Lord your God, and only Him. Serve Him with absolute singleheartedness.

There should always be a personal time set aside for worship, prayer, and studying the Word. 2 Corinthians 7:1 says, Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Our focus of Worship is to invoke and invite the Lord Jesus to be guide in our life in every way. It is important that we stay at the cross of Jesus as it reminds us that Jesus has redeemed us from our sins and we can live for the Father faithfully. Remember that we are the Vessel that God utilizes to share His message in the earth. Therefore, it is imperative that we present your bodies as a living sacrifice Holy and acceptable unto God (Romans 12:1).  We are the habitation where the Spirit of the Lord dwells. We are called to pray, seek God daily, walk in His truth, keep our hearts pure, consistently read God’s word, share the Word with others and walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) for all of these are an intricate part of Worship!

As you reflect on your life of Worship, please feel free to entertain these questions daily.

What does my life reflect daily?  What’s most important to me? When do I fit God into my schedule? What’s my prayer life like?  How often do I read my bible? How important is Worship to me? Worshiping God engages our whole lives.

Closing Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the opportunity to worship You everyday in every way. Help me to be mindful that it is You who gives us breath and life and I owe you all of me. Continue to give me a Heart of Worship, to stay in your will and to be a great example for You through my worship and praise! In Jesus name. Amen.
